IL4 Padawan sites will now utilize Appgate Portal

Platform One currently requires all IL4 staging sites to be accessed via Appgate. This means that users either need to be connected via the Appgate Client or by using Appgate Portal. Appgate Portal is a browser-based Appgate service that lets users utilize an Appgate license from a large pool of licenses owned by Platform One. Appgate Portal provides an easy way for users to access Appgate-protected sites without having to purchase their own licenses or install the Appgate Client.

You can test the Appgate Portal user experience by accessing your site in the IL4 staging environment. Appgate Portal will be available in the IL4 production environment on January 30, 2024. This coincides with Appgate (either the Portal or the client) being required to access all IL4 production sites.

Example:

1. Visit https://p1docs-il4.staging.dso.mil/, and you will be redirected to the Appgate Portal.
2. Select the profile PlatformOne - Portal SSO and click "SIGN IN WITH PROVIDER". This will initiate the normal Platform One login flow.
3. Once successfully logged in, you will return to Appgate Portal and see a message similar to "You reached appgate SDP by accessing https://p1docs-il4.staging.dso.mil/".
4. Click the "CONTINUE THERE" button to actually get to https://p1docs-il4.staging.dso.mil/
   • You may be prompted to agree to the Platform One Terms and Services ("You are accessing a U.S. Government (USG) Information System (IS)...") again. If so, click "Accept".

Important Info

• In Appgate Portal, users should select the profile PlatformOne - Portal SSO to access any sites hosted on Padawan. It may not always show up as the default profile.
• Appgate Portal is currently active for all IL4 staging sites. Platform One plans to require Appgate for all IL4 production sites on January 30, 2024. At that time Appgate Portal will also be enabled for all Padawan-hosted sites.
